It was a chilly Sunday morning and we thought we would try somewhere new for a late breakfast: The Railhouse Café in the Nova Building. Just a short walk from Victoria station, but we were still freezing by the time we actually made it inside. Although we hadn’t booked, The Railhouse Café were able to accommodate us at the bar area where we warmed up quickly.
The Railhouse Café (sister to Riding House Café) has a bustling, yet comfortable feel to it. The central bar is hive of activity, whilst the sofas in the corner provide a good place to have a coffee and chat. I was absolutely starving so started with the Avocado & Chard Florentine: two muffins, poached eggs with hollandaise sauce, avocado and seeds to top it off. I also tried some of the shakshuka – both egg dishes were great and helped to satisfy my hungry stomach.
We ordered from their brunch menu, but they did have a wider menu which included salads, sandwiches and small sharing plates. There were vegetarian options in all of these, and a few were vegan friendly as well. I had a look at their dinner menu whilst we were there, and it was mix between European dishes and Asian dishes. Within those there were some veggie friendly options which I would love to try next time, namely: the smoked vegetable fritter burger (vegan) or the freekeh and feta salad.
I’m glad we made the venture over for brunch, Rail House Café was warm, welcoming and served some good food to keep us going for the rest of the day.
I hope you enjoy it too!
