Picture Marylebone is all about serving fresh, seasonal ingredients through a variety of small dishes. They had a special six course Winter Vegetarian menu which was ideal since it meant we didn’t need to really make any difficult food-related decisions. If there was anything on the menu that you didn’t want or didn’t like, they were incredibly flexible to let you swap items out or adjust dishes to suit your taste.
Within the six courses, my favourites were the:
- Root vegetable, bay leaf and thyme soup
- Roast young beetroots, goat’s curd, hazelnut crumb, radish
- Pot-roast red cabbage, wholegrain mustard, sea vegetables
By the time the fifth course came out, I was pretty full so the small dishes really do add up. We decided to skip the cheese and jump straight in for dessert with the dark chocolate mousse, banana, salted caramel crumble. I had called Picture earlier on to explain we were celebrating a birthday and they brought the dessert out with a candle and lovely birthday card which was a nice touch.
Overall the staff were exceptional and incredibly accommodating. Whilst I wasn’t blown away by the food, it was still good and I was impressed with the variety of vegetarian options they were able to offer. Picture is elegant without being pretentious and I think it is a spot worth trying out.
